About Us

Tony Williams founded Capricorn Stages and Rigging after thirteen years experience in London in the construction and entertainment industry. Tony arrived in Australia in 1973. Not long after arriving, he secured a contract with AV Jenning to supply scaffold and riggers for the VFL Park construction. In 1975, Tony commenced as the preferred Rigger at Festival Hall, Palais Theatre, Sidney Myer Music Bowl and supplier of Stages and Scaffold for Melbourne’s Moomba Festival. This began a solid relationship that continues today 40 years later. In 1983 our services were required for the opening event at Melbourne Sports and Entertainment Center (Santana). We then liased with the builder’s engineers Irwin and Johnson to secure all drawings and loadings to maintain the safety requirements of this building.

In 1988 after five years of a successful relationship with the staff and management of MSAEC, our services were sought after to assist and design the lighting grid (space truss) of the National Tennis Center. To this day we have continued to supply our experience and labour to secure the safe and efficient rigging requirements of all the venues that now belong to THE MELBOURNE and OLYMPIC PARK PRECINCT.

Our years of building long term relationships and respect within the industry enables Capricorn to remain one of the most respected suppliers of staging and all rigging requirements and materials. The relationships we have built over the years with all our suppliers enables us to ensure prompt delivery and first class equipment to meet all deadlines as required. The commitment of our staff to ensuring the smooth running and completion of work in association with in house personnel and production staff ensures that all tasks undertaken are finished on schedule. Our staff at all times liaise with in house personnel to ensure we are up to date with all drawings, engineer’s computations, all loading requirements to ensure the utmost safety of our staff, venue staff and the public's safety. We can also offer the professional services of our company engineers as a back up to ensure that all computations and drawings meet with all local government standards.
